Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can I get a consultation?
We offer consultations with very short wait times. Our team will work with you to quickly find a date and time that fit your availability and travel schedule.

How long is the wait between my initial consultation and surgery?
In general, the wait between your consultation and surgery is 2 to 3 weeks, and may sometimes be shorter. The timing depends on your overall health, the type of surgery, and availability. Your surgeon will confirm the exact timeline during your consultation.

Can my consultation and surgery be scheduled close together to minimise travel?

Yes, absolutely. We regularly welcome patients from outside Quebec. Our team will coordinate your consultation and surgery dates as closely as possible to help minimise travel and accommodation costs.

What does your medical concierge and patient support service include?

To make your experience as smooth and stress-free as possible, we offer personalised support that includes:

  • Short-stay unit and overnight accommodation: If your surgery requires it, you can stay in our short-stay unit. Your support person may also stay overnight with you.
  • Meals provided on-site: Meals are provided for you and your support person during your stay.
  • Accommodation assistance: Recommendations for partner hotels and residences located near the clinic for extended stays.
  • Stay coordination: Management of the logistical steps related to your appointments and recommendations for your travel within Montreal.

How long should I plan to stay in Montreal after my surgery?

The length of your stay will depend on the type of surgery and your recovery. During your consultation, your surgeon will inform you of the exact recommended time before you can safely travel or drive again.

How much will my surgery cost?
A general price range or estimate can be provided when you first contact us. However, the final cost can only be confirmed after your medical assessment. Following your consultation, we will provide you with a detailed and transparent quote the same day.

Do you bill my private insurance company directly?
No. the Mont-Royal Surgical Centre does not bill insurance companies directly. You will need to pay the cost of your surgery directly to our centre. We will then provide you with all the official receipts and documents you need to submit a reimbursement claim to your private insurance provider or for tax purposes.

Will my provincial health insurance plan (e.g., OHIP, AHCIP) cover my surgery?
Our procedures are performed in a private healthcare setting. Any potential coverage through your home province’s health insurance plan depends on interprovincial agreements and the type of procedure. Our administrative team can guide you regarding the documents you may need for your claim or other administrative requirements.

What documents should I prepare before my consultation?
To help streamline the process, we may ask you to provide:

  • Your relevant medical records and medical history.
  • Results from any recent tests, such as imaging or blood work, if applicable.
  • A list of your current medications.

How does post-operative follow-up work once I return to my home province?
Your safety is our priority. Before you leave Montreal, you will receive clear post-operative instructions and a follow-up plan. Follow-up appointments may be arranged remotely with your surgeon or nursing team. If needed, we can also communicate with your local family doctor.
