Dr. Ronald Denis
General surgery
Specialty: Problems associated with obesity and its metabolic impact on health.
Dr. Ronald Denis, a graduate of the Université de Montréal, has joined the ranks of Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur, after an impressive Fellowship in Traumatology in Detroit.
Joining Dr. Atlas’ team, he was instrumental in the implementation of laparoscopic surgery.
Dr. Denis, outgoing Head of the Department of Surgery at CIUSSS du Nord de l’Ile-de-Montréal (HSCM, Hôpital Fleury, Hôpital Jean-Talon) and Director of the Trauma Program at CIUSS NIM, has achieved major advances for the Department, both in Traumatology and in other disciplines.
In 2003, Dr. Denis had the great merit of obtaining the Da Vinci surgical robot for Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur, the first of its kind in Canada. The acquisition of the Da Vinci robot has enabled bariatric surgery to take off in a major way, as its use enables a surgical approach of unattainable precision using conventional laparoscopy.
