Dr. Malek Meskawi

Dr. Malek Meskawi is a dual board-certified urologist, certified by both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Urology. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Université de Montréal and practices urology at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) and Santé Québec du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal.
Dr. Meskawi is nationally renowned for his expertise in endoscopic laser and minimally invasive prostate surgery. Having performed over 1,000 laser enucleation procedures (HoLEP) for benign prostatic hyperplasia and 500 robotic-assisted radical prostatectomies for prostate cancer, he stands among the highest-volume providers combining benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer surgical expertise in North America.
Dr. Meskawi was among the first in Canada and Quebec to perform several new BPH technologies, including the Zenflow stent, the Expander/Urocross stent, and the Optilume coated balloon. He was also among the first in North America to use the Hugo robotic-assisted surgery platform and the Hydros robotic system for prostate cancer. He is recognized as a leader in laser enucleation of the prostate, combining minimally invasive techniques with Moses™ Holmium laser technology.
Dr. Meskawi is actively involved in training urologists, regularly mentoring and proctoring physicians nationwide in cutting-edge surgical techniques and new surgical platforms. He is a co-author of the Canadian Urological Association guidelines on benign prostatic hyperplasia and has co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles. He has also served as an investigator in several landmark clinical trials evaluating novel treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer.
Dr. Malek Meskawi completed his urology residency at the Université de Montréal, followed by advanced fellowship training in endourology (endoscopic procedures) and minimally invasive surgery at the internationally renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
